From the Moon to Your Mailbox

Astronaut Club Offers the 'Write Stuff' for the Holidays

Kennedy Space Center, FL — They wrote NASA officials, U.S. Presidents and sent mail from destinations as far away as the Moon, but now their letters will arrive in your mailbox as a member of the 2005 Astronaut Autograph Club.

Benefiting the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, an organization founded by America's original 7 astronauts to provide scholarships to college students pursuing engineering and science degrees, the Astronaut Autograph Club delivers a different astronaut's personalized letter and hand-signed autographed photo to members' homes every month of the year.

Now in it's second year, the club features such legendary astronauts as moonwalkers Buzz Aldrin and Alan Bean, Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter, and Apollo 13 pilot Fred Haise, the Astronaut Autograph Club combines the excitement of space travel with the quickly growing hobby of collecting space memorabilia. The notes and photos contained within each mailing are sure to rise in value as we move into the second era of human exploration beyond Earth orbit.

Unlike other 'flavor-of-the-month' services, the Astronaut Autograph Club makes for the perfect gift that will be long-treasured after the holidays and for many years to come.

Other astronauts participating in the Club include Apollo veterans Rusty Schweickart and Jim McDivitt; Skylab residents Jerry Carr, Jack Lousma and Bill Pogue; Space Shuttle Commander Robert "Hoot" Gibson; and the first American to live on the Russian Space Station Mir, Norm Thagard.

Limited to the first 350 to subscribe, Club members receive a handsome, archival photo box to store their autographs and two "Maximum Access" badges to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, including admission to the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

The Astronaut Autograph Club can be joined for a recurring monthly charge of $49.95 for twelve months or save $100 when making a one-time payment of $499. Orders can be placed at www.AstronautScholarship.org or by calling 321-455-7014.

All monies raised will go directly to fund scholarships for exceptional college students pursuing advanced degrees in science or engineering. The Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to 182 college science and engineering students. ASF currently awards $170,000 annually to 17 students.
