Lot 19: FLOWN to the Moon on Apollo 15 — Air Force Flag
This Air Force Flag was flown to the Moon on the fourth manned lunar landing mission, Apollo 15.
Measuring approximately 4" x 6", this nylon flag was among the mementos stowed aboard command module Endeavor by its pilot, Al Worden. Launched on July 26, 1971, Apollo 15 orbited the moon 74 times over the course of 145 hours before returning to Earth on August 7.
Donated from his personal collection, Col. Worden has inscribed the flag "Al Worden, CMP - Flown on Apollo 15". The flag is attached to a signed certificate of authenticity and framed using archival methods. Worden retired from the United States Air Force at the rank of Colonel.
