Lot 08: Extravehicular Activity at a Lunar Base NASA Report

The Extravehicular Activity (EVA) at a Lunar Base Guide was prepared in 1988 for NASA by the Essex Corporation, Camus, and Lovelace Scientific Resources. The report details how NASA would support a lunar base, including EVA requirements for remote operations from a lunar base and preparation for lunar settlement. It also addresses mission requirements, lunar hardware and other considerations for supporting EVA on a moon base.

This was a brainstorming session to address all the issues they could conceive that would possibly arise if the United States was to ever construct a lunar base. NASA commissioned the report so that they would have a reference guide on supporting EVA at a lunar base and has cited the report in documents.

Astronauts Bill Pogue and Jerry Carr both helped prepare the guide. Pogue authentically signed the piece and donated it from his personal collection. It also includes hand-written notes by Pogue that he made during overview of this document.
