Lot 03: Fly High with Astronaut Sam Gemar in a 1942 Bi-Plane
Grab your scarf and goggles, because you will soon be embarking on a flight that even Snoopy couldn't top!
Three-time space shuttle veteran Sam Gemar will fly you over the clear skies of Kansas in his vintage 1942 Stearman open cockpit biplane, the same aircraft that was used during World War II to train Air Cadets for the U.S. Army. If you're really brave, you may even get to experience some acrobatics, like barrel rolls, hammer heads and loops!
Once you have landed, you and Gemar will grab a cold beverage and relax in his hanger on a crisp Kansas night, as he tells stories of his time in outer space.
The following day, Gemar will be your personal guide on a behind the scenes tour of Bombardier Flight Test Center, where Gemar serves as Chief of Flight Test Operations and Safety. Here, you will witness some of the latest developments and technology in aviation. Next, you'll be whisked off to the Kansas Cosmophere for a special tour of the museum. At the conclusion of this incredible experience, you will meet up with Gemar once again for a private dinner to recap the weekend.
Transportation to and from the experience and accommodations are not included. The actual date of the event must take place in 2008 and will be determined by the above astronaut's schedule.
