Lot 11: Vintage Apollo 17 AB Emblem Crew Patch

This vintage AB Emblem Apollo 17 crew patch measures approximately 4" x 4" and features the Greek god of the Sun, Apollo, along with an outline of a bald eagle in blue. The red bars in the eagle's wings represent the United States flag, the three white stars represent the crew with the Moon, Saturn and spiral galaxy in the background. Apollo 17 Commander Eugene Cernan commissioned artist Robert McCall to create the artwork.

Apollo 17 was the first night launch and the sixth and final lunar landing mission of the Apollo program. The crew consisted of Cernan, Ronald Evans, and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt.

The patch is from the personal collection of Astronaut Paul Weitz and accompanied by an autographed COA.
