Lot 23: STS-51E Cancelled Mission Autographed Crew Photo
This 8" x 10" color autographed photograph is of the STS-51E crew that was scheduled to launch a TDRSS satellite on Space Shuttle, Challenger in January 1985. However due to problems with the TDRSS satellite the flight was cancelled and the majority of the crew was rescheduled to STS-51D. The photo was taken in late 1984, before the mission was cancelled.
Autographed by the original crew and support crew for STS-51E, the photograph boasts 18 signatures in all. From the original crewmembers: Commander Karol Bobko, Pilot Don Williams, Mission Specialists Rhea Seddon, Jeffrey Hoffman and David Griggs along with Payload Specialists Patrick Baudry (who was replaced by Charlie Walker on STS-51D) and Senator Jake Garn. Other members of the Astronaut corp who have signed this print are Charlie Bolden, Jean-Loup Chretien, Jim Voss and Paul Weitz.
