Lot 02: "Moon Shot" Book signed by Alan Shepard & Authors
Donated by the family of Apollo-Soyuz Astronaut Deke Slayton, this hard copy of "Moon Shot...The Inside Story of America's Race to the Moon" includes an affixed book label authentically signed by authors Astronaut Alan Shepard, Slayton's widow, Bobbie Slayton (Deke passed away before the book was published), Jay Barbree and Howard Benedict.
Moon Shot is authored by the late Shepard, an Apollo 14 Astronaut, and Slayton, an Apollo-Soyuz Astronaut, who were also two of the original Mercury Astronauts. Other authors include veteran space reporters Barbree (NBC News) and former Executive Director of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, Benedict (The Associated Press). The book gives a firsthand account of the space program's early days.
