Lot 08: Original Prime Crew Signed Apollo 13 Insurance Cover
This Apollo 13 insurance cover is signed by the original prime crew Astronauts James Lovell, Fred Haise and T.K. Mattingly. This was one of a small quantity of covers that were signed by the Astronauts before the late crew change which replaced Mattingly with Astronaut Jack Swigert due to medical conditions.
The cover bares the crew insignia which is one of only two Apollo patches that did not include the names of the mission crew. Lovell took the lead in designing the Apollo 13 patch, as it is the obligation of the flight crew to design their insignia to be placed on a patch.
Measuring approximately 3.5" x 6.5" in size, the cover is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity provided by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.
