This sterling silver medallion is from the personal collection of space shuttle astronaut Don Williams.
Robbins medallions were only made available to astronauts as commemorative pieces. This medallion measures approximately 1.5" in diameter and comes in its original plastic case, labeled 30 and 54. The medallion features the mission insignia of STS-28: Columbia and a bald eagle flying over the Earth and the surnames of crewmembers Adamson, Leestma, Brown, Shaw, and Richards. The reverse also features crew surnames along with the engraved launch and landing dates "August 8, 1989" and "August 13, 1989 / RW 17 Edwards AFB, CA."
A certificate of authenticity signed by Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Executive Director Tammy Knowles accompanies this lot.
