Lot 29: Stafford & Lousma Signed Apollo/Soyuz Mission Info Card

This original Apollo/Soyuz Test Project Mission Schedule and Mission Event card has been signed by astronauts Tom Stafford, Jack Lousma and Robert Crippen. In addition to their autographs, all three astronauts have also noted their mission assignments, those being ASTP/Apollo Commander, Backup DMP (Docking Module Pilot) and ASTP CapCom (Capsule Communicator), respectively.

The 7x5" card contains the mission insignia, mission schedule and mission facts as reported by the NASA-JSC-DSAD Mission Planning and Analysis Division as of May 23, 1975. The card indicates the planned launch date, Tuesday, July 15, 1975, and includes four alternate date ranges for successive days in July in case the launch did not occur as planned (it did).

The card is accompanied by an ASTP launch photo and both come matted and framed using archival methods.

ASTP, which launched on July 15, 1975, was the first joint U.S.-Soviet space flight. The two spacecraft docked together in orbit, and two international astronaut crews met above the Earth for the first time in history. This mission marked the end of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union that began in 1957. ASTP was the final flight of an Apollo spacecraft and the last manned U.S. mission until the first Space Shuttle flight in April 1981.
