Lot 40: STS-67 Crew-Signed Lithograph
This NASA-issued lithograph features the seven smiling faces of the crewmembers of Space Shuttle mission STS-67-Stephen Oswald (Commander), William Gregory (Pilot), Wendy Lawrence (Mission Specialist), Tamara Jernigan (Mission Specialist), John Grunsfeld (Mission Specialist), Samuel Durrance (Payload Specialist) and Ronald Parise (Payload Specialist)- and has been signed by each astronaut.
The lithograph is from Lawrence's personal collection. She tells the ASF: "We probably signed it while in quarantine."
STS-67, or "Astro 2," was a human spaceflight mission on board Space Shuttle Endeavor from March 2, 1995 - March 18, 1995. It was the second dedicated Spacelab mission during which astronauts conducted astronomical observations of ultraviolet radiation, leading to astronomers' further understanding of the universe.
A lithograph is an authorized copy of an original work created by an artist or other skilled craftsman. Original photographs were often distributed by NASA as lithographs amongst media, NASA personnel and the general public.
This is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by ASF Executive Director Linn LeBlanc.
