Lot 9: Scott Carpenter Signed Lithograph with Patch
This vintage lithograph bears the signature of Mercury 7 Astronaut Scott Carpenter who also added his mission, "Aurora 7," and incorporated the Mercury 7 insignia into the inscription.
In this 8 x 10" print, Carpenter flashes a smile for the camera as he is suited up in his silver Mercury-era spacesuit. This print has been framed using archival methods alongside a brightly- colored contemporary Aurora 7 mission patch.
Carpenter flew the second American orbital flight in the Aurora 7 spacecraft. He piloted the spacecraft through three revolutions of the Earth, reaching a maximum altitude of 164 miles.
A Certificate of Authenticity signed by Linn LeBlanc, Executive Director of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, accompanies this lot.
