Steve Wirth has been a lifelong space enthusiast growing up just south of the Kennedy Space Center watching the Apollo astronauts launch on the Saturn 5 to the moon. That love for aeronautics was passed on to Steve by his Dad, who was chief engineer for Piper Aircraft, at the Vero Beach, Florida plant in the 1970s.

Steve and his wife Jill have been actively engaged in supporting the ASF as donors and volunteers since 2008 and have hardly missed an event. They sponsor an annual scholarship in honor of Mercury Astronaut Scott Carpenter, and became Visionary Circle Members when the program started.

In his professional life, Steve is a founding partner of Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, LLC, the leading law firm representing emergency medical service (EMS) organizations throughout the United States. In a distinguished four-decade public safety career, Steve has worked in virtually every facet of EMS and the fire service – as first responder, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, flight paramedic, EMS instructor, fire officer, and EMS executive. He was one of central Pennsylvania’s first paramedics.

Steve is a dynamic and sought-after speaker at regional, state and national conferences on a variety of EMS and public safety subjects. He has authored many articles and book chapters on a wide range of EMS leadership, reimbursement, risk management, compliance, and workplace law topics. He enjoys teaching and is an adjunct faculty member for the University of Pittsburgh EMS degree program.

Steve is a past chair of the Panel of Commissioners for CAAS, the national ambulance accrediting body. In addition to his work with the ASF, Steve serves on the boards of the National EMS Memorial Service, the National EMS Museum, and is an active participant in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride – the “Muddy Angels” – which honors fallen EMS providers. Steve and Jill enjoy swimming, walking, boating, scuba diving, and spending time with family – including their three grandchildren – and their golden retriever, Piper.
