2015 U.S. ASTRONAUT HALL OF FAME INDUCTION WEEKEND RECAP
WEEKEND RECAP

2015 marked the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame (AHOF). This year’s induction celebrations took place on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. Space legends from the past 50 years united to celebrate the newest inductees and their contributions to manned space exploration. Four Space Shuttle astronauts entered into this prestigious group: John Grunsfeld, Steve Lindsey, Kent Rominger, and Rhea Seddon.
The night before the official induction ceremony, more than 450 guests gathered at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s (KSCVC) Apollo/Saturn V Center to dine with some of America’s greatest space legends at the annual black-tie AHOF Induction Gala. With the massive Saturn V rocket as an imposing backdrop, the event featured former CNN space correspondent John Zarella as emcee, a video tribute to the four inductees, and a keynote speech from 2011 Astronaut Scholar Zoe Hesp. The next day, the four inductees were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held underneath the breathtaking Space Shuttle Atlantis attraction at KSCVC. Each inductee was introduced by one of their astronaut peers and presented with their AHOF medallion.
Thank you to the astronauts and patrons who joined us for another amazing AHOF Induction – and congratulations to Grunsfeld, Lindsey, Rominger, and Seddon – another deserving class of astronauts!
